A woman, sexually unsatisfied with her husband, leaves him for a man who does give her sexual pleasure. She goes to New York with him and takes a job as a model but this new glamorous lifestyle leaves her unhappy and alienated.

Julian, a young, energetic college professor, and Sherry, an attractive model, are not really happy in their marriage. Their sex-life is mediocre; Julian is a poor lover and Sherry is a bundle of sexual frustration, unfortunately finding herself working in a profession that has to use sex to sell the products she is marketing. Julian also refuses to break away from his fantasy of being a race car driver so Sherry decides to abandon him for a man she met at a party and leaves the country with him. As time passes, her new lover also disappoints her, and she finds her attempts to get modelling work in New York City no more rewarding than before.
