Peter is a successful German stockbroker. When one of his hedge funds crashes, he gets into trouble and has to flee Hamburg for a small country retreat outside Vänersborg with his two teenage children. There he meets the divorced police officer Helena, in whose guest house he and the children rent. He soon becomes involved in the small community, and in Helena.
