A murder is committed in an apartment building in Stockholm. The clues point toward the Justice of the Supreme Court and his sons.

The play was written in 1933 and is loosely based on a real event when a prefect was murdered on Norr Mälarstrand in Stockholm. Justice von Degerfelt celebrates his 60th birthday. The day before, he had a visit from his brother Hugo, who had returned home after a longer stay abroad. He tries to persuade the brother to return abroad. Hugo is a morphine addict, bill forger and usurer. The next day, von Degerfelt reads in the newspaper that the brother was found murdered in his home.—SMdb
