A letter from an unknown person, which the famous artist Alexander Vlasov receives, unexpectedly changes his life. After the mysterious death of his daughter Nastya in a car accident, he did not find solace either in work or in love, but the old story told in the letter gave hope: Vlasov has two adult twin sons. Nastya's friend, a private detective Lena Lukova, helps to check the facts. Her investigation runs into the opposition of millionaire Pavel Matveev and Vlasov's common-law wife Ekaterina Dobrynina. Lena Lukova discovers that Matveev and Dobrynina were connected once in the past and that the story of the twins concerns not only the artist Vlasov.

In an attempt to clarify the secret hidden in his past, he turns to a close friend of his daughter, a private detective Lena. The investigation, having barely begun, stalls: the oligarch Matveev and the common-law wife of Vlasov Katya, between whom, as it turns out, there is a long-standing relationship, go to great lengths to knock the detectives off the trail. However, the stubborn and persistent girl detective soon discovers that the newly-made sons appeared in Vlasov's life for a reason, and the circumstances of Nastya's death cease to seem so transparent and understandable. It becomes clear that the disaster was planned.
