Synopsis

Escaype Live is an Indian Hindi-language social thriller web series created and directed by Siddharth Kumar Tewary for Disney + Hotstar. It is penned by Jaya Mishra and Siddharth Kumar Tewary and has been dialogued by Vinod Sharma, Amol Surve and Ranvir Pratap Singh. The series reflects the realities behind social media in present day India as it journeys through the lives of six people living in different parts of the country while exploring their struggle to win, fame and fortune on a social media app called Escaype Live which has announced a competition promising big money to its winning contestant.The show has an ensemble cast and stars Siddharth, Jaaved Jaaferi, Shweta Tripathi, Swastika Mukherjee, Plabita Borthakur, Waluscha De Sousa in prominent roles amongst others. The series has been shot across the lengths and breadth of the country including cities like Jaisalmer, Bangalore, Delhi, Umergaon (Gujarat) and Mumbai.Escaype Live 9 episodes were launched on Disney+Hotstar in two instalments within a week of each other. Episode 1- 7 were dropped on 20 May 2020 and the finale two a week later thereby sucessfully engaging their viewers and building curiosity over its content within the week. The series was lauded unanimously for its unique and never-seen-before concept and has mostly received a positive response from both critics and audiences alike for providing a commentary on today's social media generation thereby generating important conversations around social medias pros and cons. The performances of the actors, the concept, music and its extremely realistic and layered portrayal of today's social media influencers also received accolades from viewers and reviewers.
