Encounters tells the story of two extraordinary but very different university chaplains and their struggle to make a difference in the lives of students, who often have to face the worst life has to offer.

On the outside everything seems to be going well for Alex Drexler, the unconventional counseling genius at Wesley International College. Sure, he's moody and at times unbearable, but he gets the job done, like he always has. Maybe that's why nobody notices how much Alex is really struggling since a tragedy hit his life a few years ago. The whole situation becomes really tricky, however, when the college hires a second chaplain. Sophia Serrano is young, highly intelligent and highly idealistic. Lacking any field experience in the area of chaplaincy, she dives into her work with a level of optimism and naivete that is too much for Alex. As the two go head to head, what will happen to the students, who rely on them? Will they end up as casualties in that workplace war, or will Alex and Sophia get it together and remember why they signed up for their jobs after all: to make a positive difference in the lives of young people?—Sven Fockner
