An adaptation of Alexandre Bisson's famous play "Madame X", "El Murra el maghoula" is the story of Fatima (Shadia), a working class performer who marries the rich Dr. Ahmed (Emad Hamdi). Together, they have a son, Samir, who Fatima loves more than life itself. However, she falls prey to a blackmailing thug Abbas (Kamal El Shenawy) and is falsely arrested. Dr Ahmed divorces Fatima (seeing her as a shame to the family) and bans her from seeing her son, thus setting in motion Fatima's descent into a life of hardship and misery.—Mahmoud S
