Thomas Krugmann is a caring father who has been looking after his two children Moritz and Nele alone since the tragic death of his wife. Rescue is approaching in the form of the charming fisherwoman Anne, who quickly accommodates Thomas, Sabine and the children in the small pension of their old friend Piet. Despite the idyllic surroundings, there is no exuberant holiday mood - no matter how hard Sabine tries, she just can't get close to Nele and Moritz. Quite different is the relaxed Anne: with her and her eccentric and amusing pet, the tame seal William, the kids immediately feel at home. Thomas also seeks to be close to the stubborn fisherwoman. Through her he seems to find that light-heartedness that can finally get him over the loss of his wife. In the meantime, things are starting to spark between Piet and Sabine: the laid-back outdoorsman is courting the chic townswoman in a touchingly timid manner. But although Thomas and Anne, like Sabine and Piet, feel that they feel more for each other than just friendship, none of them dares to take the decisive step.
