Georg Bleistein is left behind by his mother, an alcoholic prostitute, and force to grew up carelessly with his aunt and grandmother. As an adult he works in a department store canteen and becomes an outsider due to his shape and infantile appearance. His behavior gets him thrown out of his present home, as well as the gasthaus where he stays, and finally he is even fired from his job. By finding letters sent to him by his mother, letters he never was allowed to read, he steals his aunts savings and decides to search out his beloved mother in the big city.—Ulf Kjell Gür
