Ladies' man loses first his inheritance and then his heart.

Since the death of her husband, Susanna Samel, who is as sensitive as she is pretty, has been living alone with her eight-year-old son Tim in a small Swabian town. Here the young woman is involved in the local Pietist community, where she also met her future husband, the shy, very religious Peter Pfefferle. Her son Tim isn't exactly thrilled about his mom's marriage plans. He would rather have a cooler stepfather who can stand by him in tricky situations. The shy boy finds a potential candidate for this role in the laid-back Frankfurt lawyer Johannes Martin. The debt-ridden womanizer has just lost his job and has now traveled to his Swabian homeland just in time for the cherry blossom season to take over the house of his recently deceased mother. However, when the will is opened, it turns out that the deceased did not consider Johannes and appointed Susanna as heiress, who lived with Tim on one floor of the house and always looked after the old lady touchingly. After the first shock, the annoyed Johannes decides to fight for "his" inheritance. With legal sophistry and offensive charm, he tries to persuade Susanna to give in. While the pious Pietist community, above all the zealous Peter, sees a sinful heathen in the urbane city dweller Susanna doesn't find her adversary all that unsympathetic - and little Tim believes that he has finally found his energetic "guardian angel" in Johannes after he rescued him from the clutches of two hooligans. Until the case is finally clarified, Susanna tries to come to terms with Johannes: she takes him in under her roof and tries to persuade him to be more pious by setting a good example. On the other hand, he has decided to give Susanna and her son more worldly joie de vivre. Sparks soon fly in this shared apartment: even though they don't want to admit it to each other, Susanna and Johannes are deeply in love with each other. But before the unlikely couple can find each other, some tutoring is required from Tim - and also from the very top.—ADR Das Erste
