The eventful life of Rita, a thirty-five-year-old prostitute.

Early 1980s Athens, Greece. Struggling to eke out an existence, third-generation prostitute Rita takes great pains to keep her double identity secret from her unsuspecting high school student daughter. Having endured pain, humiliation, and persecution for too long--from both the police and Takis, her violent ex-boyfriend pimp--Rita now wants out, dreaming of living an ordinary but honest life away from the peril-laden underworld of prostitution.
