Artist agent Franzi is faced with a problem: her top client, washed-up rock star Alexander Gromberg, urgently needs a comeback. Instead of working on new songs, he is having one crash after another. Rumors about his excessive lifestyle have already spread to record company boss Fricke, who wants to take a look at Gromberg first. When the eccentric alcoholic is admitted to a closed psychiatric institution after an excess, Franzi resorts to unusual means. She presents Fricke with a Gromberg double: the Brandenburg farmer Sven Gose, whom she discovered by chance in a photo in a local newspaper. To Franzi's astonishment, the perfectly styled Sven passes the first test with a few wooden sentences. Things get more difficult when the record label's management wants to see him perform in front of an audience. Franzi now has only five days to turn the shy farmer into a perfect Gromberg double. Sven has always dreamed of having his own band, but he can't make a sound at rehearsals. Meanwhile, the real Gromberg pulls himself together and realizes what's going on behind his back.
