Wealthy young author Duncan Van Norman falls in love with his secretary, Lory James, a poor girl from New York's East Side. Van Norman's socially conscious mother dismisses Lory when she hears of the budding romance, but the unhappiness she causes the household makes Mrs. Van Norman seek out Lory to ask her forgiveness.—AFI
