Summaries

A gripping tale of white blood cells, physicians and money, DRY EYES, DRY MOUTH exposes the story of Sjogren's Syndrome, an autoimmune disease which affects four million Americans. The problem is few people have ever heard of it, including physicians. Each year, thousands of people, mostly women, go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, often told their symptoms are all in their head. Former health reporter Anita Womack turns the camera on herself and two other Sjogren's patients as they fight for their lives and livelihoods. The film brings into focus the financial battles and cultural stigmas people must battle if they are chronically ill and a medical establishment that has become so specialized that systemic diseases are often missed.—Anonymous
