Frits jr. is born, but when he is still just a young child, his mother leaves him and his father. All through Frits' youth, his father pretends that Marianne died at his birth. Frits' father is a coach of an amateur soccer club, where Frits also plays. The talent of Frits is recognized by professional soccer club NEC and they sign him up.
