Synopsis

The DREAM BIG AT 77 documentary follows 77 year old Raul and his eclectic lifestyle in Montevideo, Uruguay as he puts all his passion towards competing in the mens World Championship Decathalon. Through intimate conversations and candid filming, the film captures Raul training for the decathlon, his love for music, the hardships he encounters when money is very tight, his family life with his 39 year old wife and 7 year old daughter, his job as a personal trainer and rugby coach, and the World Masters Decatlon Championships in Lahti, Finland in 2009 and Sacramento, California in July 2011. Raul is training for the unimaginable. Only about 10 men in the world compete at 75 years old in the decatlon. Raul is one of them, and the only one from a Latin country. Rauls journey is filled with emotion and passion as he faces physical and mental challenges along the way, culminating in a dramatic injury that will jeopardize all his chances of achieving his dream.

The journey takes a dramatic turn when the next World Masters Championship is held in Sacramento, California in July 2011. Raul competes again and wins the World Championship against all odds.

This is a story about love and family, breaking boundaries, and overcoming challenges such as cancer, economic hardships, and a serious injury. Rauls journey is bound to inspire others from around the world that it is NEVER TOO LATE TO DREAM BIG. This documentary is living proof that age is just a number.
