Three German drag queens from very different backgrounds go on a road trip across the American South from New Orleans to Los Angeles. On their journey they meet inspiring queer people along the way and discover more about themselves than they could have ever imagined.
The Journey Starts in Berlin and Switzerland where we meet the queens and their families. Next they Fly to New Orleans and slowly make their way across the American South to their destination of Los Angeles. We see them experience the strange and intense American South. Themes include overcoming trauma, starting a family, the American dream, racism and homophobia.
Vivienne P. Lovecraft, Miss Ivanka T, and Elyssa Fleur discover on their journey everything from Cajun Mardi Gras to German settlements in the middle of Texas. America is known as the epicenter of drag. But Is it really a free wild place of open roads and freedom or have things changed there? Our queens put on their makeup and high heels and pile into a car to drive across the country discover what America is really like ? Does the American dream still exist or is it a bygone fantasy?
Our queens meet with people including Tempest DeJour, Colby Keller, and Yozmit Dogstar to discover more about America and themselves.
Full of emotions, empowerment and self discovery their wild and crazy adventure exposes the heart and soul of three very diverse young queer people as they are confronted with the realities of the open road. Drag Me to the USA was commissioned for German TV Station RTL+.
