Alexandra Berger from Vienna and Gudrun Sasse from East Germany are assigned to each other as partners. In their first case together, they are looking for the bank robber Hannes Brandauer. Madeline, a prison guard in love, helped him escape from prison. Brandauer's true love, however, belongs to Gabi.
