A married Sicilian baron falls in love with his cousin and vows to wed her, but with divorce illegal he must concoct a crime of passion to do away with his wife.

Ferdinando Cefalù is desperate to marry his cousin Angela, but he is married to Rosalia and divorce is illegal in Italy. To get around the law, he tries to trick his wife into having an affair so he can catch her and murder her, as he knows he would be given a light sentence for killing an adulterous woman. He persuades a painter to lure his wife into an affair, but Rosalia proves to be more faithful than he expected.—Jwelch5742

Baron Fefé Cefalù is a Sicilian nobleman bored of life and of his wife Rosalia: he falls in love with his beautiful young cousin Angela, who spends summers in the same palace. Since divorce is impossible in 1960s Italy, he decides to kill his wife, knowing that sentence would be very light if he proved that he committed murder for a matter of honour, such as finding her with another man. Therefore, he sets her up with painter Carmelo Patané, a painter well-known to her.—Alessio F. Bragadini <[email protected]>
