Historian Bettany Hughes sets out on journey across continents to look at the role of women in the history of ancient pagan cults and today's religions; at ancient goddesses and female oracles that played important roles in those cults. She looks at the role of Byzantine empress Theodora, prophet Mohamed' wives and and other important historical women figures and argues that early Christianity suppressed the role of women in the Church.
