The film element that accompanies Cecilia Vicuña's 2018 Disappeared Quipu, which showed at the Brooklyn Museum and Museum of Fine Art, Boston. Projected from four sides, utilizing four separate bespoke films to collide into one full piece, over a series of knotted wool strands created by Vicuña and suspended from the ceiling of the gallery. The film animates ancient quipus from the Brooklyn Museum's collection and explores the nature of language and memory, the resilience of native people in the face of colonial repression, and Vicuña's own experiences living in exile from her native Chile.
