Katja's son Lukas, who doesn't know his father, loves horses more than anything else. When his favorite horse is to be put down because it behaved aggressively after an accident, Katja decides to visit horse whisperer Nils on an island.
Pre-teen Lukas Steinfurth never met his father and is extremely shy, except with his favorite horse, but after an accidental injury turns it aggressive, the manage schedules it for euthanasia. Luckily the Lukas factor convinces the owner to send it to the horse whisperer Nils Peterson, a recluse on an island. Mother Katja Steinfurth risks her career as business consultant to move there so long with Lukas, who initially shows no interest in the horse or a local girl his age seeking friendship, but Nils gets him to bond with all, finally talking normally. Then the kid's father Gregor Thal, a colleague of his mother, arrives and is overheard with Katja, shocking Lukas, whom Nils convinces to get to know his sire before making up his mind.—KGF Vissers
