Saanchi (Khushali Kumar) and Yathaarth (R. Madhavan) are a married couple. They are on the verge of a divorce. Saanchi keeps pressuring Yathaarth to engage a divorce lawyer and plans to move to the United Kingdom. One day, Yathaarth sees the news at work, that Haq Riyaz Gul (Aparshakti Khurana), a terrorist, has entered his apartment, when Saanchi was supposed to be home alone.Yathaarth goes back to the apartment complex, only to find that the Mumbai Police is already present. ACP Harishchandra Malik (Darshan Kumar) tries to negotiate with Gul, but he is not ready to talk. The media, who are present outside the apartment complex, receive news about the hostage situation and broadcast it all over their national networks to make a big deal out of it.Yathaarth informs Malik that Saanchi was recently diagnosed with delusional disorder, and that as time goes on, she can become more dangerous than Gul, if she does not take her prescribed pills. He claims that just that morning Saanchi fought with him for not signing divorce papers for 3 months, when in reality they had never spoken about divorce till now.
Meanwhile, in the apartment, Saanchi calmly tells Gul that Yathaarth is trying to give her the wrong medication, as to make her lose her sanity. She also tells him that once Yathaarth succeeds with his plan, he can keep her wealth, as her legal caretaker and guardian. He would also not have any impediments to continue his relationship with her psychiatrist, Vidya (Vasuki Punj), whom she caught multiple times in compromising situations inside her home with Yathaarth. One time she caught Vidya flirting with Yathaarth in her office in front of her. Another time Saanchi returned home early and found Yathaarth in their bedroom and Vidya coming out of the bathroom. Vidya claims that she had come by to check on Saanchi. Both times Saanchi ended throwing things at Vidya and hurting her. Furious and annoyed about the situation, Gul tells Saanchi to stay silent. When Malik contacts Gul, Yathaarth pleads with Gul, to give Saanchi her medication. Otherwise, she will soon have a relapse. Overhearing the conversation between Yathaarth and Gul, Saanchi asks Gul to not administer it, while flirting with him.
Saanchi seduces Gul and they end up having sex together. Gul tells Saanchi that he did not know about the bomb he delivered to the boy's hostel, which eventually killed 13 people. He states that he was betrayed by his uncle, from Kashmir, in delivering the bomb instead of an actual courier. Since all the evidence pointed towards him, he was convicted. He admitted to the false charges against him after 20 days of torture in the lock-up. Later, Gul threatens Malik, of killing Saanchi, if his demands are not met.He wants his uncle Jibran to be produced, Rs 50 Lakhs and along with an escape car. When Yathaarth insists on going to his apartment, alone, with Malik and the police, they both get into a heated argument, regarding the next course of action. Malik claims that Gul is a Lashkar trained operative, who came to Mumbai for Jihad, set up base, took a courier job to observe the targets. He made the bomb himself and planted it at the hostel. He was only identified by the hostel guard who had let him in, else Gul would have escaped completely free.
In the apartment, as Saanchi seduces Gul and agrees to run away with him, they plan to make Saanchi a fake hostage (with an empty gun in Gul's hand), to escape from the police' clutches. They act on their plan Gul grabs Saanchi and uses her as a human shield to go downstairs and confront Malik for a safe passage.Saanchi alerts the police on his gun's magazine being empty, betraying Gul's trust, in front of the police.
However, Gul manages to bring Saanchi back to the apartment (he breaks a glass and uses a shard to maintain his threat on Saanchi). Saanchi soon starts behaving differently, asking about Gul's identity and how he managed to get into the apartment. Gul ties Saanchi to a chair, in the living room. It is revealed that Gul actually gave Saanchi her pills, through the Chai she made earlier.Gul is sick of the games and tells Malik that he only wants the money and the car. Yathaarth leaves to arranges the Rs 50 Lakhs cash while Malik is under pressure to wrap the operation before the NSG gets to the site. The NSG is controlled by the center and once they arrive, Malik will lose control of the situation.
After some time, Saanchi, again, tries to initiate sex with Gul, but he has second thoughts while being intimate with her. Saanchi then proceeds to tell Gul that all men are the same: Yathaarth, Gul, and 'him'. Gul has a change of heart again, and disposes of her pills, stating that he plans to run away with her. Meanwhile, Malik and Yathaarth decide on Yathaarth getting the ransom money, of Rs 50 Lakhs, so that they can arrest Gul and diffuse the situation, quickly. When Yathaarth goes up to his apartment, with the ransom money, multiple shots are heard. Malik and the police rush to the apartment, only to find Saanchi dead, in the arms of Yathaarth, with multiple shots fired at her. Gul proclaims to the police that Yathaarth shot and killed her, instead of him.
At the court, Yathaarth states that once he entered the apartment, Saanchi immediately asked for Yathaarth's help. Gul fired multiple shots at her, killing her, when she betrayed him, again.
As per Gul's testimony, when Yathaarth entered the apartment, he first asked for Saanchi's pills which Gul confirms were flushed down the toilet. He then keeps a new bottle of pills on the counter and both Saanchi and him verbally abused each other. Yathaarth then tried to take the gun from Gul, but they both got into a tussle. However, Yathaarth managed to fire multiple shots at Saanchi, even though the gun was in Gul's hands.
Malik states to the court that when Gul was in his custody, he came to know that he was actually delusional and hands in the medical and psychological report, proving the same. The court maintains the earlier death sentence of Gul's, with Saanchi being added to his list of victims. However, since he has been diagnosed with a mental illness, the death sentence can only be carried out once he has been cured of it.
It is later revealed that Yathaarth did give the wrong medication to Saanchi, with the help of Vidya, with whom he was having an affair. Vidya knew that if the pills were found they both would be arrested and perhaps even jailed. This is why Yathaarth was desperate to get inside the apartment alone and switch the pills.
The third person Saanchi referred to Gul, was actually Malik, with whom she was planning to flee, to the United Kingdom, from Yathaarth. But, when Malik insisted on staying in India, as he has a family, Saanchi blackmailed Malik of falsely sexually assaulting her.
It was Malik who allowed Gul of escaping from his custody, so that he can reach Saanchi and kill her, avoiding a death sentence, as promised by Malik. Gul, having killed nobody, later loses his sanity, and imagines Saanchi, when he is transferred to the mental institution.
