DEVIATIONS AND STRAIGHT LINE is an experimental video on the relationship between the human body and the camera. It explores concepts of perception and POV. Visuals, sound and narration develop at three separate levels with no obvious relationship to each other. Literally it is a video about acceptance of disability: the story is told by a speech-impaired woman who goes through the process of putting sounds together into phonemes and ultimately into sentences; the narration tells stories of differently-abled individuals and different POV of disability acceptance. Metaphorically, there are many layers that build up and are open to the viewer's interpretation: one of them is an allegory through life, or any process in general, suggested by the act of walking and making choices.—Anonymous
