Sheldon's cancer has him navigating around his loving, but very dysfunctional family, providing comic relief as he follows his life's passion for photography. Left at the alter, he begins to realize that he's been in love with his best friend Elizabeth, since childhood. A race against time, "Developing Sheldon" asks "Is it ever too late to find true love?"—Terre Weisman
Two weeks before hes about to Marry 25-year old Susan Ashton, 27- year old Sheldon Wexlers blood work reveals a problem. A serious problem. A cancer. And as if the news of his cancer were not bad enough, he has to navigate his way through the dysfunction he calls a loving family. A mother who cant say the word cancer, a father who expects him to stay in the family business, a grandfather with Alzheimers, an aunt who insists his illness is nothing, as well as being left at the alter by Susan on their wedding day. Helping Sheldon through all of this, are his two closest childhood friends. 25-year old Elizabeth Pressman and his 26-year old cousin, Robbie Miller.
Shortly after news of his remission, Sheldon begins to realize that his perfect world has never been so perfect. He hates the family business and living first hand that life is too short; he is convinced to pursue his lifelong passion for photography and decides to buy the local camera store with his cousin.
Sheldon also comes face to face with the truth that he has always loved Elizabeth but Elizabeths fear of intimacy prevents them from getting close. However, with her mother now dead, she sets out to find her father after 20 years. When she finally finds him, he callously turns her away, ironically, bringing her closer to Sheldon just as his cancer returns.
When Elizabeth marries Sheldon on his deathbed, Developing Sheldon answers the question asked for centuries. Is it ever too late to find true love? While combining a serious subject with a comic edge, the answer is a heartwarming and sensitive No. It is never too late to find true love.
