Two friends lose their jobs, then part bitterly after they get exposed as male strippers.
Based in England, Nikhil Mathur is employed as an Investment Banker and has a idealist girlfriend in Radhika Awasthi. His friend, Jignesh Patel, works as a Security Guard in a mall and is the guardian of Veer, his late sister's son, and under close scrutiny of the Social Services Department. Global recession takes a toll on Nikhil - he not only loses his job but also his investments, while Jignesh gets fired for failing to prevent theft by a minor. The Gujarati rebel Jignesh "Jerry" Patel (Akshay Kumar) and clean simpleton Nick Mathur (John Abraham), live in London and are both hit hard by recession. Jerry does odd jobs for a living (like a security guard in a mall) as he is an undergraduate, but Nick has a white-collar job in an investment bank and makes good money. Nick has been awarded a fat bonus, and he spends it all on buying an expensive engagement ring for his fiance.
Jerry has a little, school-going nephew Veer (Master Virej Desai) to look after as the child has lost both his parents. Nick is to marry his girlfriend, Radhika Awasthi (Deepika Padukone), who dreams of a lovely wedding, a great honeymoon and a wonderful house to live in after marriage.
Jerry & Nick have been friends since college and Jerry hates Radhika, even though he was instrumental in the 2 meeting together for the first time. Jerry feels that Radhika is only interested in Nick's money. Nick proposes to Radhika, despite Jerry's vehement objections. Jerry says that Radhika doesn't see Nick, but the house, the country club membership, the chauffeur driven car, and the private school education for her kids.
However, both Nick and Jerry themselves jobless due to the economic downturn.Jerry is fired from his mall job when he allows a punk to escape, as he had stolen medicines for his sick grandmother. Jerry stays with Nick but doesn't have money to pay for rent or utilities.Nick is overqualified (as he is an MBA from the London school of economics) and hence is ineligible for most jobs and Jerry is under-qualified and hence is not even invited to interviews.
Out of job, Jerry finds it difficult to even pay the school fees of his nephew because of which the government is on the verge of giving the custody of his nephew to a foster family. Veer is the son of Jerry's sister. The social services worker Vikrant warns Jerry that if he fails to pay Veer's expenses in the next 2 weeks, he will be taken away.
Nick fears, he won't be able to fulfill the dreams of his to-be wife. Radhika wants a long honeymoon and after coming back she wants to redecorate the entire house.Radhika decides to leave for India, but before going tells Nick of the story of her friend who broke up with her fiance when he lost his job. Nick is afraid of losing Radhika & says nothing.
It is to tide over the difficult times that Jerry and Nick turn to the oldest profession in the world. Offered by a male stranger Mr. Khalnayak (Sanjay Dutt), Jerry and Nick become male escorts for the company "Desi Boyz", fulfilling the costume fantasies of girls and ladies. Khalnayak has branches in London, New York and Tokyo and has applied for a license in Mumbai.
Jerry takes the stage name Rocco. Nick does not agree with the plan but decides to help Jerry as he also loves Veer, and all their efforts over the last 3 months have resulted in nothing. Nick takes the stage name Hunter. Together they set the male escort market on fire. They are in huge demand and earn a huge amount of money in a short period of time.
Radhika returns from India with her dad and Nick works hard to keep her away from his escort persona.
Ironically, Jerry can't ultimately prevent his nephew from being sent to a foster home, when the social services find that he is a male escort & a potentially bad influence for Veer; and Nick loses Radhika when she learns of what he has been up to while she is away in India. Radhika sees Nick dancing provocatively at a hens party.
Frustrated, Nick blames Jerry for forcing him into the profession and asks him to move out of his house and life.Nick now tries hard to win Radhika back and help comes from the most unlikely source - Radhika's father Suresh (Anupam Kher), a retired gynecologist, who has come to London with her.
Meanwhile, on the advice of Vikrant Mehra (Mohnish Bahl), a social service worker in charge of Veer's adoption, Jerry registers in college again to complete his graduation so that he can earn enough money to get his nephew back home. In college, Jerry meets Tanya Sharma (Chitrangada Singh) who used to be his over-sized classmate and is now a hot and a sexy professor in the same college. Sparks fly between Jerry and Tanya.To make Nick jealous, Radhika dates a man named Ajay (Omi Vaidya). Nick starts to pick on Ajay, often calling him Vijay purposely. After some reconsideration, Radhika forgives Nick, but Nick rejects her after she disapproves of Jerry. Meanwhile, Jerry graduates college and also wins Tanya's heart. Nick comes and apologizes to Jerry. All is forgiven when Nick and Jerry reconcile. Jerry then helps Radhika win back Nick.
Nick then helps Jerry get a decent high paying job, and Jerry decides to go to court and get back the custody of his nephew. Ajay turns out to be the lawyer against Jerry's case. He decides to get revenge on Nick for taking Radhika away from him by not letting Jerry win his case. Ajay tells the court about Jerry being a male escort and what a bad role model he would be towards his nephew. He then brings in 3 witnesses to testify against Jerry. He asks each of them if they had paid Jerry for sex; all but one say no.
Ajay is on the verge of winning, but Mr. Khalnayak comes into the courtroom and influences the judge. Jerry then makes an inspiring speech to the judge. He ends up winning the case and gaining full custody of Veer.
The economy improves and everyone is happy in the end; in a short-ending scene, a newspaper article is shown stating that the recession will strike back when Mr. Khalnayak gives a call and says that he has obtained the license for a branch in Mumbai.
