The prince of Denmark sets out to woo the proud princess of Illyria, but when she rejects him he takes her away by force and makes her to live a humble life until her pride is overcome.

The story of a spoiled and so very bored Princess, who taunts and ridicules her suitors. Always rejecting the princes, lords etc for being "boring". When the Danish Prince arrives, she rejects him and the Prince then decides on a plot to force the king's hand. He dresses up as a beggar and through a clever scheme gets the king to give the Princess to him (still disguised as a poor man). She will have to learn to live as a poor beggar's wife and slowly resentment turns to affection.
