According to a legend from the Harz region, sometime in the Middle Ages the brutal, greedy owner of the windmill farm set fire to a forest mill together with the castle bailiff and the village schoolmaster. Disguised as devils, they had set to work on a stormy night and stolen even the last flour from the forest mill.
