Synopsis

Journalist Tashi Lhatoo, photographer Nitin Berry and cartoonist Arup Rather, leading an unkempt and debt-ridden life in a shady apartment in Delhi.

Delhi-based Sonia (Shehnaz Treasury) agrees to deliver a package for Vladimir Dragunsky (Kim Bodnia) to Somayajulu, without realizing its contents or that Somayajulu is a crime boss. Sonia is an air hostess and Vladimir hands over the package to her prior to passing customs and security at the airport. Sonia is not checked as she exits the airport.Sonia asks her rather unkempt and debt-ridden fiance, Tashi Malhotra (Imran Khan), to deliver the package for her.

Tashi, in turn, asks one of two of his roommates, Nitin (Kunal Roy Kapur). But Nitin forgets to do so due to an upset stomach ailment commonly known as 'Delhi Belly' as well as his plan to blackmail their landlord, Manish (Paresh Ganatra) (by taking naked photos of him in a brothel). Nitin had traveled to the brothel himself to take the photos and had a very questionable piece of fried chicken from a street vendor for lunch, which led to the Delhi Belly.

Nitin's plan is to force Manish to let them stay in the apartment for free. He sends an envelope with the photographs to his landlord to blackmail him.Nitin asks the third roommate Arup (Vir Das) to deliver the package. Arup mixes up Nitin's stool sample & the package & delivers the stool sample to the provided address and delivers the package to the testing lab.

Meanwhile Sonia's parents set the wedding date in 30 days' time, buy a Santro & a flat 5 mins away for the couple. Tashi feels suffocated in the relationship and believes that his entire life is being decided on his behalf by Sonia. Tashi still has to fully come to terms whether or not he wants to marry Sonia.

While Tashi must deal with his attraction for fellow Journalist Menaka (Poorna Jagannathan) and incur the wrath of her husband, Rajeev (Rahul Singh). Tashi and Menaka work on several assignments together with Nitin as their camera-person.

Tashi is in bed with Sonia when Menaka calls him on the pretext of work. When he reaches the place, he realizes that it is just a party, and Menaka called him just to have fun.Tashi attends a party with Menaka where her husband Rajeev (on whom she has served divorce papers) turns up & hits Tashi. Tashi retaliates and knocks Rajeev out. Tashi & Menaka run & Rajeev chases them on the streets of Delhi, shooting at Tashi's new car. They hide inside a hotel & eventually get home. Tashi's car (gifted to him by Sonia's parents) is damaged in the chase with Rajeev.

A gangster, Somayajulu (Vijay Raaz), who was the recipient of this package, starts by brutally questioning VladimirVladimir informs Somayajulu that the mix-up must have been caused by Sonia, as she didn't know what she was carrying in the package. He makes Vladimir call Sonia and finds out that the package may be in the possession of the trio.Somayajulu asks Sonia to give him the address of the person who had delivered the package. When Tashi arrives in his apartment, he walks into Somayajulu, who has Arup standing on a stool with a noose around his neck. On hard interrogation, Somayajulu discovers the mix-up and realizes that the package must be with Nitin's doctor.

Meanwhile Nitin has an accident when he slips inside his toilet & is taken to same samples lab by Manish (who was served the same photos anonymously that day). In the hospital, the doctor hands back the samples box to Nitin, saying Arup made a mistake and gave them the wrong package (since the package was completely sealed, they returned it to Nitin unopened).

Nitin returns home with the package & finds Somayajulu who inspects the package & is satisfied with the 30 diamonds in it. He instructs his henchmen to kill the 3 roommates. One of them is about to shoot Tashi when another kicks the stool on which Arup was standing to hang him. Luckily for the roommates, the ceiling of the apartment collapses since it can't take Arup's weight. The cave-in knocks out Somayajulu and his men, leaving one with broken arms.

The 3 guys escape (As Nitin picks up the diamonds package from the debris) & head to Menaka's. Meanwhile Manish goes to his brother for help, who is a cop. The guys fence the diamonds for Rs 90 Lakhs & have grand plans for the future. But Somayajulu kidnaps Sonia & asks for the diamonds back.The fence refuses to return the diamonds (he demands double the sale amount).

Without the money, Tashi comes up with a plan. Nitin, Arup, Tashi, and Menaka disguise themselves in burqas and rob the jeweler, leaving him the bag of money. They flee in Tashi's car with the police on their tail and go to the hotel where Somayajulu is holding Sonia. As they are about to make the exchange with Somayajulu, the police arrive at the hotel room, where there is a shootout between the police and Somayajulu's gang.

Nitin, Arup, Tashi, Sonia, and Vladimir, who had hit the floor during the gunfight, are left as the only survivors. Menaka, who by now realizes that she likes Tashi, is upset to learn about his engagement and walks away from him. Tashi breaks off his engagement to Sonia. Later, it is revealed that Nitin did not return the cash to the jewelry store owner and had kept most of the money for himself (whereupon he abandons blackmailing the landlord).

Menaka comes to the roommates' apartment to return Tashi's car's hubcap lost while escaping from Rajeev. Tashi jumps into her car through the open window and kisses her passionately.
