In the year 2050 the planet has become overpopulated, to help control population the government develops a "Death Race." Annually competitors race across the country scoring points for killing people with their vehicles.

Five long decades after the film Death Race 2000 (1975), in the overpopulated and plagued by unemployment United Corporations of America, the annual Death Race is about to begin. Scoring points simply by running over innocent pedestrians, the current champion and everyone's favorite leather-clad race car driver, Frankenstein, must race against no-nonsense challengers such as the fast rapper Minerva Jefferson; the cult leader Tammy; the infallible AI-controlled car A.B.E., and, above all, the ultimate rival, Jed Perfectus.
