A troubled girl, sentenced to community service on a ranch, bonds with a horse there. Her folks suggest that she enters the championship, but both she and the horse get seriously injured in a car accident.

Allison, new in town, hates it and her new school. When she hangs with the wrong guy, and get into trouble, she is given community service at a horse stable. She comes to love being with the horses, until an auto accident cripples her and her favorite horse.—Brian W Martz <[email protected]>

Following the passing of his wife/their mother, architect Jack Mills and his two offspring, teenager Allison Mills and adolescent Brian Mills, make the decision to start life anew by moving from Los Angeles out to the country town of Cheltenham. Outwardly, Allie is having the most difficult time making the transition, not only in missing her mother in her formative teen years and being a confirmed city girl, but feeling trapped at home sitting for Brian as Jack often has to work late to make a go of his struggling business thus not being able to make friends. A series of bad decisions based out of rebellion leads to proverbial good girl Allie being sentenced to community service work, ten weekends living and working at the Susie Q Ranch, a stable and horse training facility owned and operated by veterinarian Dr. Susan Hadley and her brother, J.B. Hadley. Susan and her team do much community outreach in addition to accepting these occasional cases of court ordered service. Despite the manual labor which is unfamiliar to her, Allie not only makes a connection to the ranch - the work and the people, with Susan and J.B. encouraging her to learn how to ride - but most specifically to a boisterous, ill-trained horse named Jet that Susan is stabling and retraining for Mr. Perkins, a "my way or the highway" type of person. As Allie seems on the road to redemption and to a happy new life, something unexpected happens that threatens it all. Despite Allie not seeming to cope with this change, she may emerge in tact with the underlying connection from the ranch that got her to that point of happiness before the incident.—Huggo
