When an investigative journalist returns home from the Congo to write an explosive book on uranium exports to Iraq, people around him begin to act suspiciously and alarming information about the disappearance of his girlfriend is revealed.

After one year in the Congo, an investigative journalist returns home to Germany. Still in the Congo, his girlfriend has disappeared while meeting an informant. Stricken by this traumatic experience, the journalist rents a tiny room and begins a job at a small magazine. At night, he researches for a book he plans to write on his time in the Congo. Shortly, he notices that his neighbors act suspiciously and he feels observed. Does this all have to do with the book? As he descends deeper into the subject, he finds alarming information about his girlfriend that reveals the past in a completely different light and his life gets out of control.—Fabian Barth
