A searing meditation on race, family and friendship in America - using Detroit as a metaphor for the country we live in.

Shaun Tillman, Hannah Baudin and Caleb Kaufman - separated by the cultures and classes that define them, but bridged by the things they shared: sarcasm, Slurpees, French and basketball - have their relationships tested when Caleb returns home to Detroit, disrupting the normalcy they've found in his absence. Three years after Caleb abandoned Hannah, Shaun, and everyone else in his life by disappearing to Paris, the three best friends are forced to reckon with things left behind: family and friendship, escapism and lyricism, and love and loss, all in the hopes of setting each other free.
