Belem, state of Para, Brazil. A jungle megalopolis, the Bangkok of the Amazon. Millions spread across a vast urban sprawl, cleaved by rivers and enveloped by rain forest. A patchwork of neoclassical architecture, ramshackle stilt houses, and towering skyscrapers. Beauty, corruption, filth, obscene wealth, extreme poverty.
