Kazakhstan, 2015. Young Dina lives with her husband Ali in his parents house. Dina and Ali learn that they will soon have a girl. However, the mother-in-law insists that, according to tradition, a boy should be born first in the family. After Ali takes her mother's side, Dina agrees to have an abortion, but at the last moment changes her mind. Dina does not admit to her husband or mother-in-law that she saved the child. In search of protection and an answer to the question of what to do next, she finds herself in a religious community, unaware that she could become a victim of recruiters looking for women to be sent to Syria.
