In March 1991, five boys disappear while hiking, and despite their parents' pleas, the police focus on election duties instead of the search. Years later, disgraced documentary maker Kang Ji Seung is sent to the small town and decides to investigate the case for a comeback. He teams up with an ambitious professor, whose controversial theory leads them to explore a direction the police avoided.
