Behind every silver lining a dark cloud lies in wait.
A young girl (Catherine Ashton) is lured into a park by the sound of a haunting, childlike refrain. Suddenly, she finds herself drawn into a strange, old fashioned, steam fairground. She regards her new surroundings with wonderment and is thrilled when a good looking guy (Steven Garry), who somehow seems familiar to her, starts paying her close attention. Romance soon fills the air! But romance quickly turns to terror, and Iris, the young girl, has to run for her life in a bid to escape from the park and return to the safety of the outside world and the care of aunt - wealthy, glamorous Ellen Gray (Amanda Fullerton). But before managing to break free from her frightening surroundings Iris witnesses the brutal and horrific murder of a beautiful young woman...
Meanwhile, Ellen Gray, who is enjoying a relaxing latte at the village coffee shop, is about to have her carefully planned day interrupted by a seen-better-days, nosy parker of a private detective! Ellen views Frank Rosa - the detective - (Justin Fox) with suspicious disdain. She remains civil, but decidedly haughty, and Frank's questions concerning the tragic death of Ellen's daughter some five years earlier go unanswered - despite Frank's explanation that an appeal hearing is imminent and his investigation is designed to ensure that the man convicted of killing her daughter does not go free.
Frank tries desperately to persuade the silent and unyielding Mrs Gray to confront whatever it is she is reluctant to face. The discussion ends when Iris finally arrives back on the scene. The distraught and traumatized girl attempts to recount her shocking experience at the fairground. Ellen refuses to even accept that there is a fairground in the vicinity. She is more concerned about Iris being late, and the anticipated return of her husband Mike (Alex Tanner) from a business trip. He is due to arrive at any moment it seems, and has plans to take both Ellen and Iris away on a trip. But Frank is unnerved by the story which Iris is trying to relate, particularly since Rosie Gray herself was killed at a fairground...
However before Frank can act upon his gut feeling that there's something decidedly wrong with the situation 'Uncle' Mike turns up...
Is this the countdown to a happy family scenario for Iris? Or are the horrors of the fairground about to return with a vengeance?
