A criminal gang is after a rich man's money. A female member of the gang gets the bright idea of getting him to marry her, then getting a healthy settlement after a quick divorce.

Confidence-man Steve Morris, with a reputation and plenty of money from his last job, leaves prison at the same time as Kay Murray, who, while innocent, took the rap and served time in place of her erring-brother. Steve befriends her and when he later discovers that his chief operative, Mabel,has deserted him in his game of separating wealthy men from a lot of their money, he talks Kay, as a straight business proposition, into romancing the wealthy Paul Southern into marrying her, and then later getting a divorce, with the divorce-settlement proceeds to be split among the partners, Steve, Kay and K.C.
