Synopsis

In 1996, star athlete Calvin "The Golden Jet" Joyner is being honored at Central High School. During his speech, a group of bullies, led by Trevor Olson, interrupts the assembly by throwing Robbie Weirdicht, a morbidly obese and socially awkward student, naked into the gymnasium. Robbie had been dancing in the locker room to "My Lovin' (You're Never Gonna Get It)" before the cruel prank. The entire crowd erupts in laughter except for Joyner and his girlfriend, Maggie Johnson, who are sympathetic. Joyner quickly covers Robbie with his varsity jacket in a kind gesture. Humiliated, Robbie thanks him and flees.

Twenty years later, Joyner is married to Maggie and works as a forensic accountant, though he feels unfulfilled in his career. Maggie suggests they attend therapy to address their struggling marriage. One day, Joyner receives a Facebook friend request from "Bob Stone," who invites him to meet at a bar. At the meeting, Stone reveals he is Robbie Weirdicht, now transformed into a confident, muscular man with expert combat skills.

After a bar fight and a nostalgic visit to their old high school, Stone asks Joyner to analyze some suspicious online transactions. Joyner discovers a multi million-dollar auction involving bidders from dangerous countries, set to conclude the following day. The next morning, CIA agents, led by Pamela Harris, arrive at Joyner's house, looking for Stone, who disappeared after staying the night. Harris claims Stone is a rogue agent who murdered his former partner, Phil Stanton, and plans to sell satellite codes to the highest bidder.

Shortly after, Stone kidnaps Joyner, explaining that he is trying to stop the mysterious "Black Badger" from selling the codes. Stone insists he needs Joyner's accounting skills to track the transaction and locate the meeting place. While being pursued by a bounty hunter, Joyner tries to escape and contacts Maggie, arranging to meet her at the therapist's office. However, Harris intercepts him and warns that Stone is the Black Badger. She gives Joyner a device to track Stone's location and urges him not to involve Maggie.

At the counseling session, Stone poses as the therapist and persuades Joyner to help him. They meet Olson, who has the ability to trace the offshore account linked to the auction. Olson pretends to apologize for his past bullying but soon mocks Stone again. Meanwhile, Harris threatens to arrest Maggie unless Joyner helps capture Stone. Feeling cornered, Joyner betrays Stone, leading to his arrest.

While Harris tortures Stone for a confession, Joyner has a change of heart and helps him escape. They discover the deal will take place in a Boston parking garage. Together, they steal a plane and head to the location. Stone confronts the buyer, claiming to be the Black Badger, and shoots Joyner (only grazing him) to keep him out of harm's way. Stanton then appears, revealing he faked his death and is the real Black Badger.

A chaotic fight ensues. Stanton plans to frame Stone for the crime, but Stone kills him by ripping his throat out. With the ordeal over, Joyner and Stone attend their 20th high school reunion. There, Joyner reconciles with Maggie, promising to work on their marriage. Stone is named prom king after Joyner hacks the voting system to honor him. When Olson attempts to humiliate Stone again, Stone stands up for himself and knocks him out.

In his acceptance speech, Stone reveals his true identity as Robbie Weirdicht, shares a message about overcoming adversity, and calls Joyner his best friend. To reclaim control over his past trauma, he strips on his own terms. Later, he reunites with his high school crush, Darla McGuchian, and they share a kiss and dance.

Some time later, Maggie is pregnant, and Joyner has joined Stone in the CIA. On Joyner's first day, Stone surprises him with his old varsity jacket as a gift.
