About Cem Sultan - the younger son of Fatih Sultan Mehmed. He was born in 1459. His mother's name was Çiçek Hatun. He received his first education from the palace teachers. When he was five years old, he was given a teacher and sent to the Sanjakbey of Kastamonu. He continued his education here as well. Fatih Sultan Mehmed sent Cem to the province of Karaman upon the death of his eldest son Mustafa (1474).—Ulf Kjell Gür
