Summaries

Every single week hordes of women gather at the doors of male prisons across the whole of Brazil. They are mothers, sisters and, in most of the cases, prisoners wives. Captive Hearts follows a group of women visiting their husbands in prison, and even shows a wedding ceremony in a prison chapel, featuring a white dress, wedding cake and guests. The film registers the visits since the women s homes, where food is prepared to be taken with them, until the moment of the conjugal visit, taking place in private prison rooms. These women are not criminals; they did not commit any offense, but even then they serve a sentence outside, in the name of love.—Anonymous
