Summaries

Year 1993. Ariel and his family spend their summers in an idyllic Jewish country club. An exploration into the ties that bind in an Argentinean Jewish community.

"El Ciervo" ("The Deer") is a Jewish country club located on the outskirts of Buenos Aires where grandparents, parents and children spend their summer vacations, in 1993. Alma, a 13-year-old boy, violently assaults Coper, a boy somewhat younger than him, in the presence of Ariel , who will become the sole witness of these events. Parents, authorities and other people from the club will take part in the preparation of a trial where the culprit could be suspended. Meanwhile, Ariel and his friends, continuously bullied and teased by Alma, will try to continue their vacation in the best possible way. Ariel will discover, through his own experiences and those of other members of his family and his environment, many things about the adult world: sex, love, religion and justice will be some of the topics that surround his head as he assumes and builds his own identity under the not-so-happy nickname that was given to him: "Cara de Queso" ("Cheese Face").—exe_malaga93
