BURIED ABOVE GROUND weaves together the stories of three Americans who battle the devastating symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Over six years, the film documents the courageous stories former U.S. Army captain Luis Montalvan returning from the Iraq War, who learns to cope with his invisible war wounds through the bond he forms with his service dog 'Tuesday'; Ashley, a native New Orleanian who barely escaped Hurricane Katrina and commits to rebuild her home and herself; and Erundina, a child abuse and domestic violence survivor, who fights to stay sober and put herself through school.The film takes what we have learned from combat PTSD and broadens the storytelling landscape to include other forms of debilitating trauma that currently impact 450 million people worldwide.
