Synopsis

Two unemployed slackers, Bhola (Deven Verma) and Ajay (Navin Nischol) come across a newspaper advertisement about a missing elderly gentleman, whose estate is worth millions. The ad says that if the man is not found alive in 15 days, he will be declared dead, and his share of the estate (Rs 15 Lakhs) will be distributed among the other partners.Bhola and Ajay are photographers and try to entice tourists coming to the Hanging Garden to take a photo as a memory. Ajay is a good person at heart. He takes a photo of a loving couple who believe that the girl's father has hired a detective. The girl is distraught that her father will never allow her to marry as per her wishes and wants to commit suicide. To placate her, Ajay destroys the film of his camera, which cause him a loss, one that he has no capacity to take.

Deepa & her grandmother (Lalita Pawar) (Deepa was adopted by grandmother in her childhood) own the house in which Bhola & Ajay come at night after grandmother is asleep (as they have not paid rent for 3 months).Deepa loves Ajay & hence keeps giving them shelter without the knowledge of grandma. Deepa gets Ajay a singing tuition job that pays Rs 100 per month. She also finds a photo competition on India's modern woman and gives ideas to Bhola for the perfect picture. The first prize is Rs 500.Bhola goes to a woman's self-defense group (called Nari Sena) to get his photo on the modern Indian woman. The group is led by Parvati (Aruna Irani). Parvati agrees to help Bhola as he is a friend of Deepa.

The singing tuition is for a girl named Mini, who wears short clothes and is clingy. Ajay gives her way too much attention (by singing a song for her) when Deepa goes to introduce Ajay to her. This offends Deepa, and Ajay has to placate her by explaining to her that he wrote that song only for her.

One day, Ajay and Bhola develop a photo from their camera and come across this missing male GirdhariLal in the Hanging Garden Park in Bombay. They decide to make him their paternal uncle and take him to live with them in a rented apartment. The guys believe that if they help Girdhari, he will also loan them some money to bail them out of their precarious financial situation.Girdhari seems shrewd but for some reason, goes along with the story spun by Bhola & Ajay. This elderly man, Girdharilal (Om Prakash) takes an unusual interest in Ajay's girlfriend, Deepa (Archana), whom he gets to know is an orphan and is 19-20 years old.

Grandma eventually finds out that Ajay and Bhola have been living in the house at night without her knowledge and confronts them.Ajay & Bhola tell grandma that Girdhari is Ajay's paternal uncle & is very rich. Grandma lets them stay in her house with the hope that some of Girdhari's help will come her way.

Deepa tells Girdhari that after her mother passed away, her father started living with grandma as their landlady. But then one day, her father was killed in a road accident and grandma adopted her.

Bhola & Ajay call Girdhari's partner Mr Ajgaonkar (from the newspaper ad) & ask him for Rs 10 Lakhs in return for Girdhari & the partner agrees to do this shady deal. Bhola & Ajay realize that someone wants Girdhari out of the way to pocket the rest of his estate. They decide to meet the partner.Girdhari pretends to be clueless but secretly listens to Bhola and Ajay talk. He realizes that they both find something fishy in their entire episode and are determined to protect him against hostile forces.Girdhari reveals to Deepa that he also had a daughter named Deepa and he lost her. He sees a bit of his own daughter in Deepa. Girdhari doesn't leave the house due to his love for Deepa.Girdhari also pays Rs 300 as rent for the past 3 months to grandma and an advance rent of Rs 600 for the coming 6 months. He also brings household groceries and offers to cook a meal for Deepa.

When they get to the appointed address, the partner is dead & his "Secretary" Mona (Sonia Sahni) finds Bhola & Ajay at the scene. They try to escape, & Girdhari secretly helps them to escape this melee.

Girdhari traumatizes 2 more of his partners who are later found dead. Mr. Bhagat (Brahm Bhardwaj), the senior-most partner, calls the police & says that Girdhari was their colleague 12 years ago & was implicated in cheating cases & sentenced to 12 years in prison. While going to jail he swore revenge on all partners & that is what he is now doing.

Mona traces Bhola & Ajay & finds the location of their house. She relays this information to Bhagat. Bhagat is frazzled at all the other partners being dead. When he finds that Girdhari is staying with a girl named Deepa, he says that Deepa is Girdhari's daughter & gives instructions for Deepa to be kidnapped to lure Girdhari to him.

When Deepa is kidnapped, Girdhari reveals that Bhagat & 4 other people were partners with him 12 years ago & they framed Girdhari to send him to jail. His share of the company however was still intact & the newspaper ad was by the partners to declare Girdhari dead so that his estate could be split among the partners. Girdhari could not stomach this & came to Mumbai to extract his revenge. His idea was to use his estate to split the unity of the partners & make them fight & he achieved that as it was Bhagat who killed all the partners one by one to become the sole beneficiary of Girdhari's estate.

Girdhari surrenders to Bhagat to release Deepa & then Mona rescues Girdhari & reveals she is her real daughter Deepa. But Bhagat never released Deepa.So now, Bhola, Ajay, Mona & Girdhari attack Bhagat's stronghold to subdue Bhagat & rescue Deepa. As Bhagat is cornered by police, he commits suicide.
