Synopsis

In this 8 part documentary, Alan Titchmarsh begins a discovery voyage of the British Isles that begins some 3 billion years ago and concludes with the present day. You will be shown the frozen summit of Ben Nevis, the temperate Isles of Scilly, rain-drenched West Ireland, dry expanses of East Anglia and the Yorkshire waterfall, which is twice as high as the Niagara Falls. As Alan travels back in time, you will discover evidence of prehistoric reptiles, an ancient immense forest and that hippos once roamed Trafalgar Square.
