Biographic film about the life of the bullfighter Manuel Rodríguez alias "Manolete".

Rafael, a young flamenco dancer, wants to become a bullfighter and -so doing- win Dolores's love. Unfortunately, Doña Rosario, the belle's mother, has lost her husband in the arena, and won't have any additional toreador in her family. On the contrary she intends Dolores should Marry Javier, a young man of her own kind and social class. Out of spite, Rafael turns to Soledad, a gypsy dancer, which arouses Dolores's jealousy and drives her to accept Javier's proposal. The latter invites Rafael and Soledad to his engagement party, during which the gypsy creates a scandal. Some time later, Rafael gets hurt in a fight instigated by Soledad's lover. Dolores then decides to break up with Javier and comes back to her true love. Rafael, trained by his idol, bullfighter Manolete, makes tremendous progress and his star rises rapidly. But when Manolete is killed by a bull in a fight, Rafael is upset by this stroke of destiny. He promises to Dolores that the fight he will perform to pay a tribute to his master, will be his last.—Guy Bellinger
