Texan debutante Valentine Ransome tries to reform a bankrupt playboy.

Playboy Jonathan Blair wakes up after a night on the town to find that Texan Valentine Ransome has escorted him home. Val is attracted to Jonathan but, finding that his life is aimless and his family shipping company almost bankrupt, she decides to reform him first and marry him later. Aiding her is Jonathan's unctuous butler, Butch; in her way is his fiancée, ditzy actress Carol. Lots of slapstick.—Rod Crawford <[email protected]>

Texas socialite Valentine Ransome sets out to reform playboy Jonathan Blair and also to break up his engagement with actress Carol Wallace. Happy-go-lucky Blair has inherited a big steamship company which, under his guidance (or lack of) is rapidly approaching bankruptcy. She buys the company and puts him in charge, hoping he will mend his ways but he thinks she is trying to ruin him and is definitely meddling in his affairs.—Les Adams <[email protected]>

In acting as his overnight knight in shining armor, albeit with both inebriated at the time in being out on the town partying, Texas heiress Valentine Ransome awakens first thing in the morning in the lavish Manhattan apartment of playboy Jonathan Blair. The two know nothing about each other, including not knowing the other's name, with Jonathan further not remembering much from the night before in his hangover. Val quickly learns, however, that she is in love with him and wants to marry him. Standing in her way is ambitious, aspiring, not very good actress Carol Wallace, a gold-digger, and the woman more often than any other on Jonathan's arm. Val believes she has a way to get into Jonathan's life when she discovers that he lives off a monthly stipend from the family's steamship company passed down to him. His focus, though, is more on his personal life than his professional life, and the steamship company is going bankrupt. This would leave Jonathan without his regular income and, thus, without a means to maintain the life to which he is accustomed. Val's initial action with regard to this issue doesn't have the effect she was anticipating, leading to a push and pull between Val, Jonathan, and Carol, with Jonathan's faithful longtime butler Butch doing whatever he can to make Jonathan come over to Val's perspective.—Huggo
