Copy boys Muggs and Glimpy investigate a murder. They locate the ex-wife of the murdered man and become convinced she is innocent. They hide her from the police while they investigate.

Copy boy Muggs, irritated that his superiors don't recognize his diamond-in-the-rough qualities, investigates the prominent murder of Tom Wilson. Ex-wife Gypsy Carmen falls under suspicion, whom Muggs and gang believe innocent and take into their protective care. Through their interference, though, newspaper boss Lester Cartwright gets mistakenly arrested for the murder, while soon-to-be-wed reporter Jim Lindsay seems always a step or two behind, as well as Bobby Jordan, visiting from the Army, tries to catch up to his gang pal.—statmanjeff
