Hydraulic Fracturing has given a second lease on life to a small Pennsylvania town, but at what cost? Like many rural towns, Montrose, PA had been suffering from the decline of the family farm until the discovery of the vast reserves of natural gas in the Marcellus Shale. Today Montrose has among the lowest unemployment in the state and every hotel room is booked. However it is not without consequences, residents of the neighboring township of Dimock say their water was contaminated by fracking and are suing Cabot Gas and Oil. The town has become bitterly divided and the issue has pitted neighbor against neighbor. 'Boomtown' examines both the benefits and the risks of this controversial issue.—Anonymous
