Eric and Marissa have a failing marriage after Eric was caught with a prostitute. Separated, and ready to him with the divorce papers, Marissa reluctantly agrees to meet Eric at a bar, where he promises to explain what was really happening that night with the prostitute. Eric provides the ridiculous explanation that he never intended to sleep with the prostitute. He was going to murder her. Marissa is astounded by this revelation, but doesn't buy it. She insists that Eric actually work with her to commit a murder and prove that he's really the killer he claims to be.
